About Garden Cottage
Welcome: Garden Cottage was refurbished during late 2020 and early 2021, and we opened to guests in May 2021; our aim is to make your visit as comfortable and relaxing an experience as possible. The Cottage has everything you need to help you to enjoy your stay, whether you’re on a business trip, taking a short break, or staying for longer. We know that travelling can be exhausting, so we’ve equipped the cottage to enable you to begin to relax from the moment you arrive.
Location and connections: Nestled at the A92 "Wester" entry to the pretty village of Kilmany, East Fife, Garden Cottage is a charming little holiday cottage, just a 20-minute drive from the ancient University town of St Andrews, 30 minutes from the coastal towns of the East Neuk and 10 minutes from the Market-town of Cupar. A 15 minute drive takes you over the Tay Bridge into Dundee - the City of Discovery. As a result, the Cottage is within easy reach of an excellent range of shops and amenities, including pubs, restaurants and cafes, leisure centres, historical and architectural sites and more. From Cupar there is a regional bus service and a train station with local and national links.
Safety and security: We’re not usually bothered by seasonal fireworks in Kilmany, so Garden Cottage could be a peaceful refuge for you and your dog(s) if fireworks upset them - since we opened in 2021, people have brought their dogs over the Bonfire period and have had lovely relaxing stays with us - please see reviews on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/gardencottagekilmany
The garden is enclosed by a standard stock fence - there's unused farmland immediately in front of the Cottage. To reinforce the fence and enhance it's security, we have added hex wire to the standard wire and we've boarded the bottom of the fence. We have also installed a farm gate, similarly reinforced with wire. However, while we've done our utmost to secure the garden, we cannot guarantee 100% security and would ask that guests keep their eyes on their dogs when in the garden. We also ask guests to clean up after their pets as necessary in the garden, and we provide bags for that purpose.
Cost and staying with us: Change over day for weekly stays is negotiable depending on bookings already taken. Unless by prior arrangement, arrival time is 14.00 and departure time is 10.00. We have a straightforward pricing structure which makes Garden Cottage an affordable, year-round haven for people wanting to get away to a home from home for a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 28 nights. For 2024, our charges are £90/night for two people, or £100/night for 3 people - whatever days of the week, whatever the time of year that you stay - we don't have seasonal or school holiday-time price hikes. We can offer a reduction for longer stays. A £100, non-refundable deposit is normally required to confirm a booking, with the balance payable 2 weeks before arrival. At that point we also ask for a £100 damages/breakages payment as insurance to cover unforeseen accidents - it will be refunded in full providing no damage is found after your departure. If your booking is made less than 4 weeks before you're due to stay, full payment is required including the £100 breakages/damages payment.
Dogs are very welcome, free of charge, with normally up to two small/medium, or one large staying at a time - however, this this can be negotiated, please ask if your requirements are different - we have had up to 3 large dogs stay with us. We provide dog treats, a food and drink bowl, dog towels and throws so that your dogs can join you on the furniture if you wish.
